Enjoying some tunes and a whisky at Neue Heimat Moabit
Taken after drinking a beer in public - it's legal!
Haven't written in awhile – been super busy seeing lots of people. We arrived in Berlin and it was great, our hotel was sweet – we lots of washing as the heater was so warm. Got some food watched some tele, drank some beers, then went to sleep.
Walked to all the main spots the next day – Reichstag, Berlin Gate, Memorial for the Murdered Jews (got asked for $ from a homeless person), then JE had a wee tantrum because he was so cold. We got zouppe and coffee to warmup. Went to meet our friend Liam at the Berlin Gates, which he was like an hour late! Checked out Checkpoint Charlie, got polaroid photos, by then we were pretty tired so went home and got ready for Elenas tea. She was good – made a yummy satay stirfry and we got whisky's and beer (cheap!) at a bar, Neue Heimat Moabit which had cool bands playing.
Next day saw us explore with Elena and Liam in Berlin. We went to a cool suburb called Mitte (v. hipster/indie vibe going on), and the Museum Island. I have peeing issues. Always need to pee! It's not fair, so that factored into a lot of our day. We then had to leave, but before we left we brought food - woo hoo for eating Subway in another country! We caught the bus and arrived in Hamburg! Linda, Liam's girlfriend who is from Hamburg took us to a vegetarian restaurant, Koppel 66. It was nice, and has re-started the vegan phase. I feel like I'm putting on weight and I'd like to stop that process. It's hard when it's so cold and you want to eat nice food.
Our hotel in Hamburg had loud music coming from downstairs – gave us a single bedroom and we couldn't book another night which was frustrating. Guess you should always be prepared and book ahead. We woke up and went on a Sandemans walking tour of Hamburg – fire, WWII, and pirates! Very, very cool! We brought tickets to Oedipus, a theatre play. It's going to be on a Monday night, and tonight we are heading out to Linda and Liam's to stay the night.
Currently hanging out at McDonald's. Mum and Dad told me they're going to sell the house. Thinking of rebuilding somewhere else. Sad times. I loved that house. I'm getting tired of travelling but we haven't really got much to go. The next few places we are planning on staying longer so I'm looking forward to chilling out. Amsterdam should be good, I think I'll have some weed, just a bit. Maybe eating rather than smoking?
