Waiting for dinner to arrive at the asian restaurant in Munich
After we got off from the train and arrived in Munich we headed straight out of it into town. We found a nice asian restaurant – our first “real” restaurant in awhile [Real in that it sold food that I would've normally eat back in NZ]. Then we went on to a tavern – which was super cool. JE was assertive and decisive so we got another round of drinks and fries. The next morning we were feeling seedy so we just went on a walking tour in Munich. It was about the history of the city and whilst on it we didn't get to hear/watch the Rathaus-Glockenspiel of Munich go off – it was late/or never happened.
On the tour we saw a gold pathway that memorialises the passive resistance of the Hitler regime, and I thought that was quite special to have the experience of looking at. I touched one of the three lions nose for good luck too.
Then we went to a real beerhaus! We went to the Hofbräuhaus and it was so cool. They even had delicious vegetarian meal options - a big hurrah for vegetarians being able to eat in a pub [not that possible in NZ - only options are salads]. So good! I got my very own one litre beer, and lets just say that after lunch it's quite hard to shop whilst you need to pee! I brought some nice underwear from H&M – a blue set.
After heading home, having some snacks, booking more accommodation for the next few nights we went to look for a restaurant. Sadly we ended up in Pizza Hut [uh how embarrassing – in another country and we end up at this terrible place].
This morning when we woke up we found out that Conor Oberst and First Aid Kit played last night in Munich! Totally sucks that we didn't know about it as we would've been there clapping our hands away. They're playing again on Thursday in Berlin but we can't go as our friend that we're meeting up with is so excited about our dinner that night. Think we'll watch them in Hamburg on Tuesday. How cool is that? We've got bands on our radar now and we'll keep an eye out for sure! Excited!
With a little bit of luck from my lion friend at Odeonsplatz in Munich
Can you believe that's vegetarian? It's probably even vegan! So happy that at the beerhaus there was options for us // JE wearing AS Colour long sleeve merino, and ASOS Shirt
Too big to handle - 1 litre beer at Hofbräuhaus // Wearing AS Colour long sleeve merino, Country Road scarf
