Introducing the man whom I travel with: Harvey Warbanger

As I've nearly run out of space in my Europe Travel Diary I thought it would be fitting to write about the person who brought it for me to write in.

Jared has been my travelling companion for over the past year or so and he's made a fine one at that. I don't think that I could've travelled here to all the beautiful places without him.

We always knew we were going to travel on our overseas experience together but it wasn't happening fast enough. Once we combined our efforts and became more of a team we were able to save our monies, plan out where we wanted to visit and escape the drain that is New Zealand.

We've made some mistakes along the way
  • Applying for our UK visas too soon which meant that a good 3 months were cut off.
  • Jared should've applied for a 2 year working visa which is what I did and then after our visas expired we could've applied for his 5 year UK ancestry visa together.
We've made some great decisions along the way
  • Not booking accommodation whilst on our travels - we just had a rough idea where we wanted to go and this meant we could be flexible.
  • Choosing Eurorail as our mode of transport. It might've not have been the cheapest option but as a newcomer to Europe it was easy and it meant we didn't have to book in advance (to an extent). For those that don't know about Eurorail basically you buy different types of tickets. Our ticket was for 10 days travelling and for each day you travel your get your ticket clicked. A couple of times our tickets didn't get clicked which meant we got free days of travelling - that's how we were able to go to Bordeaux on a whim!
Surely there have been more mistakes and good decisions which I am sure I complained about in my Europe Travel Diary entries.

I can't wait to see more of the world with you Jared! Forever we will be going on adventures like getting out of our pyjamas to hop on our bikes and go searching for the Northern Lights.

This website has been looking back into the past - but what about the future for us? We're heading back to Amsterdam to see long-lost friends and going to Greece before embarking on a Turkey tour for ANZAC celebrations in April.

May at this stage is quiet but with a weekend trip to Yorkshire. In June work will be getting busy for me as we've got our main event on 7-8 June in Fort William. At the end of June I'm off to Bristol with those long-lost friends then up and onwards to Glastonbury Festival - very similar to what Jared and I did in 2013.

After Glastonbury we're off to London for a couple of days where we want to explore more. Jared got tickets for us to see Carey Mulligan and Bill Nighy act in Skylight and we've also got tickets to Open'er Festival. As it's in Poland we'll be flying over to Gdansk to party hard to Phoenix, Pearl Jam, Foals, Interpol, Daughter and more. After camping in tents for two weeks (Glastonbury and Open'er Festivals!) we'll be camping on a boat.. In Croatia for a week long tour from Split to Dubrovnik.

How's that for planning? If you've got any suggestions on who to stay with in Bristol, London, and Dubrovnik let us know!
