So many lollies! Or as I've found out in the UK a lolly is something on a stick. So it's actually 'So many sweets!'

Diary entry from: 31st December 2013 Madrid

Today is new years eve day - it's been exactly a year since JE and I left New Zealand for adventures.

We're on the train from Madrid to Valencia after spending two nights in the city. It was cool but not as cool as Lisbon. We arrived in Madrid and dropped off our bags at Tryp Hotel and from there we waited in line for the gondola over a massive park. I saw bunny rabbits hopping and squirrels when we walked to the metro line after the gondola.

After we got back to the hotel we showered and ventured out - tried Gorila Bar first which was far too pretentious for us and from there we headed down the street to get vegan food from B13 but not before checking out my favourite Spanish store Kling.

The next day (yesterday) we started it with a Sandemans tour but it was far too full of people and moving so slow that we figured we'd go exploring ourselves. I feel really bad about this as we didn't pay for the tour guide, but we also need to think that our time is money as well.

In El Rastro we spotted a guy and when I took a photo he pulled the peace sign for us not before joking that we owed him 20 Euros.

Saw the Royal Palace, ate churros (without the chocolate! So good!) and went to a tapas bar, La Juana, that played old music, like 60's stuff. We brought a drink, we got tapas. AND REPEAT for like four times. We felt obliged to buy another drink since he was giving us free tapas, but how cool is that - getting free tapas? He gave us a potato fish dish and after explaining through hand signs we couldn't eat meat/fish we gave us olives and more dishes. He said 'English' and did the thumbs down. Fun times. I would totally recommend going to this tapa's bar!

We ate more tapas at home and went to bed, only after making a fuck load of spills and mess on their beautiful white duvets. Beers be damned.

Next up on our travelling is: Valencia for NYE, 12 grapes and glow sticks
