Diary entry from: Monday 7th April in the loft, Amsterdam
It's been a full on two days so far and we've got two more to come.
When we first arrived in Amsterdam we were greeted by the lovely Amy and Leighton at the train station and walked to the park with also me beers and lunch. This was great as the sun was shining... So very bright and more sun than I've ever seen in awhile.
The loft that we're all staying at is amazing, so big, open planned, and modern. It even has two pop up shops with sales on down the corridor selling Kling and Cheap Monday clothes. Swoon.
We drank at the loft and as comfortable as it was we headed out across the river to the town centre where we walked the Red Light district with its sad lonely old men. We found a pub as the opposite end and drank Belgium beers. It didn't seem like we had hangovers, so we jumped, started stopped, started stopped, started stopped on the bikes travelling around Amsterdam. We sizeable quest with six people, traffic lights and the copious amount of other people also cycling. Phew.
Highlight of the day would be getting bagels at Bagels and Beans. The United Kingdom think that bagels are soft on the inside - no buddy they're meant to be bagel-like and firm. That night we played cards, music and enjoyed a drink on the pier outside the loft watching lights flickering from the city distant.
It's spring time in Rotterdam // Exploring on our bikes
You may think he's real but it's actually a mannequin
Departing to go home at the clean Rotterdam train station
Today: breakfast, bakery, vegan cupcakes, goodbye to Liam and Linda, Subway, museum park, chocolate soya ice cream, train, airport, goodbyes.
Yesterday: breakfast, cycled around Rotterdam, pizza at Stalles, jäger bombs
Day before yesterday: train from Amsterdam, drinks at Ani & Haakien Hostel, Mediterranean food at Hotel Bazaar, bunnies in a pet shop window, bed time after playing cards.
It's funny how little time you have on holidays but yet it feels like it's been such a long time. We've been travelling for such a little amount but it feels so long so - must be the fact that we've been doing so much. I had a great time exploring Amsterdam again and found myself completely blown away by how cool Rotterdam is. I found it to be clean, creative, easy to navigate and we were staying in the raddest hostel that was on the same level as us. Would totally recommend Rotterdam to those travelling.
Although I have to go back to work tomorrow and I'm currently feeling the Sunday blues // miss my NZ family I know that I've only got a couple of days work then were heading to Athens, Santorini, and Istanbul. Will get researching for it and let the excitement grow!
