Little Green Cars play their set on Monday at King Tut's Wah Wah Hut, Glasgow
4/11/13 Glasgow to Edinburgh bus
From her amazing dimples, to his Jason Segel good looks, the dreamboat on bass and the best stage shoes on Faye. I am sold. Little Green Cars played a fantastic set at King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut. It was my first time there and had to ask the pierced girl behind the bar what the deal was. Is there a bar in the stage area? Can we get our tickets here? Are we allowed to go in? All the important questions.
The opening band was disappointing in comparison to New Zealand bands. But although disappointing they were still bad ass when they started rocking out.
I first heard about Little Green Cars when friends of mine saw them at Splendour in the Grass. Album brought and first song heard; one song even about my furry friends (mice), yeah you’ve got me hooked.
Listening to the album is nothing like if you’ve seen them play live. In my mind on stage they became more like a choir than a band with their sick harmonies. You can see that each person created the sounds that you can hear on the album and you can still hear each of those sounds when they’re played on the stage.
Faye O’Rourke, the female vocalist even broke down playing “The Kitchen Floor”. I’m sure I saw her tearing up, and it’s no wonder as she performed with such power and emotion. I have so much respect for her; the way that she changes her voice to mix in with the lead singer.
By the end of the night the guitarists bow tie was undone, my whisky was finished, and the band for the last song was in the middle of the audience. We crowded around them and listened to them play with one guitar and all of their voices.
First Aid Kit in Melbourne January 2013 is right up there. They were one of the first bands to make me truly enjoy watching all of their set. Little Green Cars has I think topped them. Just so good.
Currently searching for shoes like Faye's.
