Athens I love you!

You're so dirty, forgiving, friendly, foreign and fantastic. We had such a great time. Yesterday we went to Lake Vouliagmeni and went swimming. This place was the best! Although it was very touristy it was perfect for us.

The fish in the water nibbled at your feet - was a strange sensation and the need to pull your feet away when you see them near your toes is great. It's a such a splendid feeling to be swimming again, I love dunking myself under, seeing how far my legs will go and looking up towards the sky and hearing the sound of nothing. Maybe this is when I am most peaceful. Clear water. Bliss.

Getting back to the main city drag we tried a coconut flavoured sorbet. It is quite possibly the best sorbet I've ever tried. Another delight of Athens is the Freddo Espresso (don't forget to add sugar) that everyone seems to have in their hands.

At the Temple of Zeus we saw a turtle! Like an actual moving turtle. Added with the turtle I think this is my favourite ruins spot in Athens. We also walked on down to the Panathenaic stadium which we preceded to run around. What a great day.

We found our new hotel called Alassia in a gritty area of town which we got dressed up for town and went to a bar called Rock and Balls. Missing our favourite bar we went back to it to eat entrees for our dinner. Once again we stumbled home being followed by stray cats. And I came across a new vegan make up brand, Too Faced at Sephora. High times.

Today we ate like gods at our breakfast buffet and walked the deserted streets of Athens on Easter Sunday. Another day another Freddo Espresso to drink. Delicious cold coffee with no milk. The need to bring this concept to UK is extremely important. As there is a train strike we had to catch a bus to the airport which wasn't great but I found a vegan perfume in duty free. It's extremely hard to vegan perfume. I am over the moon with my new Korres perfume. PERFUME. PERFUME PERFUME.

I love this city! Onto Santorini in a wee bit. I'm most looking forward to seeing the sunset and to more swimming. Yesterday I got burnt! How's that for an early summer?
