CV Updating

So along with resigning from my job (due to moving overseas!), and with the need to find a new one on the horizon I have finished writing up my resume. The new CV includes work at Bright Sparks and is majorly cut down from it's predecessor! I had fun collating it together; it made me realise that I do have skills and knowledge that are needed, and with my friendly personality I'm pretty much shoo-in (totally being vain/overconfident here, but hey! early days yet).

The CV that I copied my layout from was a recruitment companies resume, and with that the layout was a bit different from what I'm used to. In their resume which they must have reformatted from a particular candidate, they had the employment last. What's the norm these days for CV's? Are we meant to sell ourselves with the skills, education, hobbies first and then make them scroll through that to get to the employment history?
